Case & Poster Presentations
Case presentations are now live!
Derby Medical Society offers an annual prize of £250 for the best Case Presentation on any medical or surgical condition.
All trainees, whether in hospital or in general practice, are invited to submit a case presentation in whose management they have been directly but not necessarily solely involved within the last 2 years.
The case presentation should:
- Last for a maximum of 10 minutes, with 4 minutes for questions afterwards.
- Be both interesting and informative to a diverse medical audience.
- A humorous element would not be out of place, and cases with a cross-speciality learning point would be particularly welcome.
- Not include the patient’s name or any other identifying data. Written permission from the patient is necessary if images that identify the patient need to be shown.
Four cases from the abstracts received will be shortlisted for oral presentation (using PowerPoint) to the Derby Medical Society at one of its evening meeting and the winner will be chosen from these.
Please submit an abstract of your case presentation below, emphasising why you think your case will be of particular interest to The Medical Society.
Submissions from multiple co-authors should be avoided. Please note that you cannot present the same case/research as a poster and a case presentation during the evening.
Deadline: 5th January 2025 midnight
Poster applications are now live!
Derby Medical Society has a strong history of encouraging and supporting continued learning and professional development. We are offering an opportunity for all doctors in training to present posters on research, audits or clinical case reviews with which they have had direct involvement during their training, with an annual prize of £250 for the best Poster Presentation.
All trainees, whether in hospital or in general practice, are invited to submit a poster. Posters will be printed in A1 and can be either landscape or portrait in orientation. Presenters will have the opportunity to discuss their posters and answer any questions from the attending Society members and their guests.
The poster presentations will be judged and a prize will be awarded based on the following criteria:
- Quality and subject matter of project
- Quality improvements identified and action
- Presentation of poster
To enter and display a poster during the evening, please submit your poster in a PDF format below. You will be expected to be present during the Derby Medical Society meeting on 15th January 2025 at 7pm at Derby Medical School Lecture Theatre to answer questions on your poster presentation.
Please note that you cannot present the same case/research as a poster and a case presentation during the evening.
